All good opportunities are not as good as they seem on the outside. Some are “accept now, pay with your life later” traps. All generosity extended is not for free or for kindness’ sake. Some generous folks are sheep dressed as wolves, marinating you before laying you on the frying pan. I believe that as economic disparities widen globally, transactional relationships will increase. Therefore, the skill of identifying and escaping the deceptive “crowns of the world” is necessary.

Here is a true story about Tom and me. Tom (not his real name) is a figure of crowns, and our story represents many treacherous, transactional contexts – at work, home, friendships – when crowns are bestowed.
